We are currently seeking an individual in the role of:
Environmental Data Analyst
 
Reporting to the Senior Environmental Officer - Sparwood, the Environmental Data Analyst will be responsible for the integrity of environmental data (including water and air quality, soil, sediment, geochemical, biological, meteorological, and hydrological ) through development, implementation and maintenance of a standardized data management system for Teck Coal Operations.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Importing, cleaning, transforming, validating and modeling data with the purpose of understanding or making conclusions from the data to support decision making process
  • Spatial/temporal trend analysis of information using various statistical methods
  • Conceptualization of data and sharing this knowledge through effective presentation of the data output to various organizational levels in the company
  • Responsible for improving data quality through a robust QA/QC process
  • Development of standards and best management practices for data management
  • Manage environmental monitoring database imports and exports for both internal and external sources
  • Assist with development and implementation of a training program for staff and consultants involved in environmental related monitoring and data collection
  • Develop and implement a regular internal audit process for the data management program to ensure data integrity and quality standards
 
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in information technology or management, data mining or statistics, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in ecological/environmental data management and statistical analysis
  • Experience in running and operating database systems
  • Proficient in using analytical tools/instruments and other computer software for data management (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft, SQL server, GIS, SAS, SBAA and others)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning and leadership skills
