We are currently seeking an individual in the role of: Environmental Data Analyst Reporting to the Senior Environmental Officer - Sparwood, the Environmental Data Analyst will be responsible for the integrity of environmental data (including water and air quality, soil, sediment, geochemical, biological, meteorological, and hydrological ) through development, implementation and maintenance of a standardized data management system for Teck Coal Operations. Responsibilities: Importing, cleaning, transforming, validating and modeling data with the purpose of understanding or making conclusions from the data to support decision making process Spatial/temporal trend analysis of information using various statistical methods Conceptualization of data and sharing this knowledge through effective presentation of the data output to various organizational levels in the company Responsible for improving data quality through a robust QA/QC process Development of standards and best management practices for data management Manage environmental monitoring database imports and exports for both internal and external sources Assist with development and implementation of a training program for staff and consultants involved in environmental related monitoring and data collection Develop and implement a regular internal audit process for the data management program to ensure data integrity and quality standards
Qualifications: Post-secondary degree in information technology or management, data mining or statistics, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience Minimum of three years of progressive experience in ecological/environmental data management and statistical analysis Experience in running and operating database systems Proficient in using analytical tools/instruments and other computer software for data management (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft, SQL server, GIS, SAS, SBAA and others) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational, planning and leadership skills
