Statistician Government of the Northwest Territories Yellowknife, NT EXE Bureau of Statistics Department Information As the central statistical agency for the Government of the Northwest Territories, the Bureau of Statistics develops, analyzes and disseminates statistical information; provides advice and assistance to government departments; and represents territorial statistical interests at federal-provincial meetings on statistics. Job Information Reporting to the Territorial Statistician, this position manages the resource statistics program for the Bureau of Statistics by developing and improving upon the range and quality of territorial statistics related to forecasted impacts of future resource development activities and assessing the impacts of on-going resource development projects. The position offers a wide scope of statistical analysis including research, design and modelling. The incumbent must have a sound background in statistical methods, mathematical modelling and forecasting, and related computer applications. The successful candidate must also have excellent analytical and communication skills. Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by the completion of a Master's degree in Economics, Commerce, or Statistics (or another related field) with an emphasis on quantitative methods and at least one year of work experience in a statistical research environment. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in these fields and at least five years work experience in a statistical research environment will be considered. Equivalencies Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Salary Information The salary for this position starts at $49.42 per hour (approximately $96,369. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $1.44 per hour.
