Research/Survey Analyst

Role

Reporting to the CEO, the GM/COO and under the supervision of the Coordinator, Special Projects, the role of the Research/Survey Analyst is to perform quantitative and qualitative research in support of the CaRMS research agenda. The position entails data collection through in-house surveys, basic statistical analysis, preparation of brief reports, and responding to information requests. Under the supervision of the Special Projects Coordinator, this person will be responsible for developing and monitoring the annual Post-Match surveys for all CaRMS Matches, along with other in-house surveys related to special projects.

Responsibilities

The Research/Survey Analyst will:

  • Under the supervision of the Special Projects Coordinator, be responsible for the development and administration of Post-Match surveys related to all CaRMS’ matches and special projects, and analyze the response data.
  • Participate in the administration and analysis of student/resident survey research projects/surveys. This includes data cleaning, recoding, detailed analysis of results, preparation of graphs and tables, preparation of background reports and briefing notes.
  • Respond to requests for information from CaRMS clients and external organizations.
  • Maintain an administrative request system for tracking and monitoring purposes.
  • Identify operational and data capture issues in conducting surveys and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure consistency in analysis and dissemination of survey results by setting up appropriate variables for general analysis as well as custom variables for individual requests.
  • Participate as a team member on special projects.

Skills

  • The Research/Survey Analyst must be a highly organized, focused and motivated person who works well independently.
  • This position requires someone with a strong understanding of survey design, development and analysis for assistance in the variety of questionnaires the organization conducts. Strong skills in the understanding and use of SPSS are required for supervision of survey analysis and for the production of statistical reports and research papers.
  • The position requires someone with strong written and communication skills and someone who is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • To aid in developing relevant surveys (related to longitudinal data collected by CaRMS), the Research/Survey Analyst should have a good understanding of the Canadian health care system and the organization’s relationship within it, including its association with all key external stakeholders.

Education/Professional Designation

The Research/Survey Analyst should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, sociology, public or health administration or related degree with concentration in public opinion research, research methodology and statistics, policy analysis.
  • Working knowledge of SPSS and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).

Experience

  • To qualify for entry into this position, the Research/Survey Analyst should have at least 1 - 2 years of work experience in this area.
