We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Manager, Business Analytics and Modeling, to apply his or her considerable expertise to managing the corporate-wide deployment of business intelligence (BI) analytics and data management applications for the senior executive team and functional management in the areas of Health and Safety, Mail Delivery Quality, Pricing Strategy, Database Marketing, and Campaign Management. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that the Canada Post senior management team has timely access to the business-critical information required to adjust operational processes and improve corporate performance. Occasional travel may be required.
 
YOUR DUTIES as Manager, Business Analytics and Modeling will be varied. Specifically, you will:
 
  • Follow the BI project development life cycle to develop and maintain a best-in-class BI and analytics project management process through the identification, analysis and support of business intelligence and analytics solutions appropriate to Canada Post’s business needs.
  • Design, develop and test business intelligent applications, including SAS analytical portal and dashboards, SAS Web Report Studio, SAS Information Maps, and SAS OLAP Studio, to meet the needs of senior executives, lines of business (LOBs), Pricing Strategy, Health and Safety, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Support the Director, Pricing and Modeling, with the development and implementation of BI project plans for functional data marts, online analytical processing cubes, Web report studio applications, and advanced analytics, from original concept through to final implementation.
  • Develop work plans, schedules, BI project estimates, resource plans and status reports, lead BI and Analytics project team meetings, ensure that project goals are accomplished and in-line with business objectives, and recommend solutions to resolve project issues and resource allocation conflicts.
  • Manage the implementation of enterprise business intelligence and analytics projects, including the preparation and issuing of monthly status update reports.
  • Collect and document new strategic management application requirements for BI directly from senior management, LOBs, and functional management.
  • Support the Director with the management and reporting of the departmental operating budget, proactively highlighting and identifying risks and leveraging opportunities to ensure that departmental funds are spent efficiently.
  • Support the Director, Pricing and Modeling, in mentoring the modeling and analytic team members regarding business intelligence strategy and processes, including developing training material and conducting training courses.
  • Develop and manage the service level agreements (SLAs) with (1) the LOBs on the Marketing Data Mart, Campaign Management Data Mart and application support, and (2) the Health and Safety and Operations teams on the Data Mart and application support.
  • Work directly with Innovapost, CPC IT, and external vendors to lead the assessment and installation of new or upgraded BI and analytics software.
  • Manage all external vendors and contractors, assist with negotiating vendor contracts on behalf of the department and track, and report on, external contractors’ activities against stated project goals.
 
You bring to the role of Manager, Business Analytics and Modeling a SUCCESSFUL TRACK RECORD that includes:
 
  • A university degree with concentration in Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or Computer Science/Information Systems
  • Five years of successful, relevant experience
  • Five years of combined experience in customer analytics, process diagnostics & improvement, analysis and reporting by analyzing large amounts of data and applying complex algorithms
  • Experience using SAS, SAS Statistics, EMiner, SAS BI and SAS-OR
  • Experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders through face-to-face and written methods
  • Superior negotiation, problem analysis and change management skills
  • Sound judgment and exceptional planning and motivational abilities
  • Proficiency in English
