Block booking for accommodations at conference rates has been made at two hotels, one motel, and the university residence. Information and rates are listed below. When booking, refer to SSC2007 and book by May 9, 2007 to enjoy the special rates.

Holiday Inn St. John’s, on Portugal Cove Road, would like to welcome all SSC 2007 delegates planning a trip to St. John’s, Newfoundland. The hotel is very conveniently located. Minutes from the St. John’s International Airport, Memorial University, the Trans Canada Highway, the downtown and the Stavangar Drive shopping area. Some of the amenities available at the hotel:

Ramada St. John’s at 102 Kenmount Road has recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation. Ramada is located at Kenmount Road, within walking distance to malls and many restaurants and just minutes to business parks, Memorial University and hospital. Downtown is only 7 minutes by taxi ($10). Location, convenience and service make the new Ramada St. John’s an ideal property for business or leisure travelers.

Memorial University Residence Halls: Register upon arrival at Hatcher House.

ROOMS: A single room is comprised of one twin bed. A double room is comprised of two twin beds. Rooms have a desk, chair and a closet with drawers. Bedding is provided. The conference rate includes daily maid service, towels and face cloth, soap and a drinking glass. There is no telephone or TV available.

PAYMENT: You are required to make full payment for your accommodations prior to or upon arrival. We accept cash, cheques, debit card, Visa and MasterCard. Payment in Canadian funds only!

REGISTRATION: No matter how you arrive in St. John’s you have to come to Hatcher House (refer to Map of the Campus for location) at the University to register for your accommodations. You have access to your room 24 hours a day. The booth is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The University is about a ten-minute taxi ride from the airport and costs about $15.00.

WASHROOMS: There are two common washrooms on each floor – one female and one male.

LAUNDROMAT: There is a coin-operated laundromat in each residence.

PETS: NO PETS ALLOWED in residences.

SECURITY: The residence buildings are locked twenty-four hours a day.

PARKING: Residence guests may park for a fee of $4.00/day. Permits are available at the conference registration booth in Hatcher House.

TELEPHONES: A pay telephone is located in each residence.

WINDOWS: Please close windows upon departure.

INTERNET CONNECTION: There is no Internet connection in the bedroom.

SMOKING: The campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland is smoke free.

SUMMER FOOD SERVICES (2006 rates; tax included): is available Monday to Friday. Meals are served in Hatcher House Dining Hall (unless otherwise posted).
